To truly tap into the power of mind in a positive way, you have to have cognitive clarity. You cannot let everyday stresses intrude to such an extent that anxiety overwhelms your mental processes. It is well-known that negative emotional states can cripple thinking and decision-making.

One of the best ways to reduce anxiety and establish mental clarity is through meditation. At first, this may seem counter-intuitive. After all, meditation makes use of a kind of mind control that may be in short supply for people who is so anxious they “can’t think straight”. But, meditation is something that can be practiced by almost anyone and under almost any circumstance. Most people can practice meditation well enough to get positive results without special training. Even the simplest forms of meditation are likely to benefit a range of mental and physical processes.

Breathing meditation is one approach that can be used by a beginner. Here you find a quiet location and sit comfortably erect. Your eyes are closed, or partially closed, and your attention is directed toward your breathing. Breathe normally. Notice the sensation of breathing in and out. Focus only on your breathing. In do so, the mind will gradually let go of outside distractions. Of course, this will not happen easily when you begin. In fact, many people find that meditation seems to make things worse, initially. Thoughts flood in. Meditation seems impossible. The key is to keep focusing on your breathing. When you notice that your mind has begun to wander, do not get upset with yourself. When your mind wanders, just bring your attention back to your breathing. Over time, your racing thoughts will subside and a relaxed sense of peace will emerge.

The practice of meditation is a practice of mind control. If you continue to practice meditation, you will gradually experience a mental clarity that promotes both psychological and physical relaxation. As this occurs, you may find that that your ability to tap into the power of mind has increased significantly.

They either don’t realize that they’re depressed, think that others will look down on them if they admit their depression, or they simply can’t manage to get help because of the major depressive disorder symptoms they’re suffering. After all, many of the symptoms associated with major depressive disorder make it hard to get through the day, much less manage to get through the mental health system. Sometimes, major depressive disorder sufferers are also misdiagnosed as having physical illnesses, rather than emotional and mental issues.
